Most people think of hearses and funeral limousines as solemn vehicles. They carry our deceased loved ones to the cemetery and they transport mourners as well. For others people though, joining a hearse club is a great way to have fun and meet friends. Some hearse clubs don’t even require that you own a hearse in order to join. Although each club is different, here are some basic guidelines for joining a local hearse club.
• Search through the section of your local newspaper that lists coming events. If a hearse club exists in your area, it will likely be listed there. You can also check online by typing in words like “hearse club” and your city to find the one closest to you.
• Once you find a few clubs, learn the rules of membership. Some only ask that you have a shared interest in hearses and funeral cars. Others may require a membership fee or they may only allow you to join if you own a hearse. Email or call the club to find out their rules.
• Find a club that fits your expectations. If you simply want one where you can exchange pictures and information online, don’t join a club where you are required to join rallies or participate in a lot of activities.
• If you don’t find a club you like, why not start your own? It could be as easy as starting a webpage where other hearse fans can visit and share information or stories.
